Given the current climate, thousands of people across the UK are likely to be working from home over the next few weeks. We understand that even if you and your team are self-isolating, you still need them be able to work effectively from home.
Here are our top tips to ensure you can keep going whilst away from the office and keep your spirits up during isolation!
1) Dress for work
Whilst the idea of lounging around is tempting, getting dressed as if you were heading to the office will not only improve your state of mind, it will psychologically prepare you to start work.
Whether you need to change into business attire depends on the type of person you are and the nature of the job you have. Some people find that dressing formally is helpful, and also useful if you need to dial into a video call.
2) Keep to a schedule
If you work in a traditional workplace, you’ll probably have set hours of work to stick to. It’s a great idea to stick to these when you’re working from home.
Make sure you are ready to start your working day at the same time as you would normally arrive at your desk, take a break for lunch at your regular time and switch off at the end of the day!
3) Pick up the phone
If you’re working from home, the chances are you’ll be doing so by yourself. Whilst you won’t get distracted by colleagues or other office noise, make sure you don’t get totally disconnected.
When you’re at work, you’re more likely to engage with colleagues but when you’re working from home, you could spend the whole day without speaking to anyone which can be isolating.
